NMC DOiT Vol.2 Scenario 8 Day 1

October 1, 2007 | < 1 minute to read

I started on scenario 8 tonight. It doesn’t look TOO bad, although there’s the standard level of weirdness, some things I’ll blog about later in the week. Just strange ways to configure things that you’d never do in real life. I blew up my terminal server again, so I’ve been working in Notepad. I got a good start on frame-relay, VLANs, RIP, OSPF and EIGRP, but I still need to identify my OSPF network types to meet the scenario requirements. I’m not too good at remembering automatically what frame-relay network corresponds to what OSPF type (although it’s very simple to determine at the CLI), nor do I automatically remember the behavior of the OSPF network types. I can hammer through that pretty quickly, but I can’t do it without peeking at the CLI to remind myself of what’s what. Since I hosed my terminal server again, I’m stuck on that until tomorrow…I need to get that termserv on a managed power strip so that I can reboot it remotely. Maybe I’ll do that tomorrow, too.

For now, I’m going to do a couple of diagrams for BGP and redistribution, then head for bed. I have to be at work an hour early to babysit someone’s change control, so I got to get to sleep a little early before the alarm goes off at 3:35am. :)
