Dear Cisco – Please Fix the Doc CD!

March 4, 2008 | < 1 minute to read

To Whom It May Concern At Cisco:

For years now, I’ve used and loved the Doc CD. In it, I find a hierarchy of technical documentation highly relevant to my job. As as preparation tool for the CCIE lab exam, the Doc CD is an incomparable resource.

In recent weeks, my precious Doc CD has become broken. Hundreds of technical documents I’ve written have now have broken hyperlinks that refer to dead-ends on Cisco.com. The redirection page that pops up doesn’t take me to the new location of my information, but instead dumps me unceremoniously to a generic support page.

Cisco, if you must reorganize the Doc CD, so be it, although I argue that it’s unnecessary. But if you must, then please, for the sake of your army of Cisconauts who bear the San Jose standard, put in HTML redirection that works. Our old Doc CD hyperlinks should still work without us having to navigate the new Doc CD structure from the top down.

Sincerely yours,

A Concerned Cisco User and CCIE Candidate

Please add your comments if you, too, would like to see Cisco bring sanity back to the current chaotic state of the Doc CD.
